Newly engaged? Congratulations! This is where the fun begins! Many couples find the prospect of planning a wedding daunting and overwhelming – where do we even start?! That’s where Bespoke Wedding Company enters, as we can offer you some tips for your first wedding-planning steps.

Firstly, sit down and talk ideas. How did you meet? Could your meet-cute lend to a wedding theme that fits you as a couple?

What order of events did you have in mind? Do you imagine yourselves having a traditional ceremony followed by a sit-down wedding breakfast and evening reception? Or, do you envision just the ceremony and an evening reception? Are you considering jetting away for a destination wedding, or perhaps you’re dreaming of a rustic outdoor wedding in a grand marquis?

What time of year would you like to get married? Naturally, the summer months are hugely popular, but have you considered the winter months instead? Top tip… Winter weddings are often discounted and can create a truly magical atmosphere.

Creating a guest list is one of the most important but trickiest things to do. Do you want an intimate wedding day with just family and close friends, or are you thinking of throwing a once-in-a-lifetime party? Top tip… More guests will mean a higher price as catering is generally calculated on a per-head basis.

Now talk money. How much can you afford? Will family be contributing?  Top tip… Creating a spreadsheet with your budget and what everything costs will ensure you stick to your budget and know exactly how much you are spending.

Once this has all been determined you can start searching for your perfect venue. Top tip… Look at multiple venues, get a feel for what you like about each venue – do you see you and your partner tying the knot there? Ask questions, and make sure the venue can provide everything you want and live up to your expectations.

When your venue is booked you can start thinking about vendors for your accessories, wedding cake, flowers, entertainment and so on. Are you following a particular colour scheme or do you have a theme in mind which needs to be reflected in your accessories? Top tip… Having multiple suppliers can be stressful. Look for a supplier that can do as much as possible to take that stress away www.bespokeweddingcompany.co.uk

Getting married is the happiest day of your life so enjoy the build-up. Top tip… You’ll never please everybody, it’s you and your partner’s day so do what makes you both happy! Everything will come together towards the end.
